Steve Hillman - Timelevels/Worlds Beyond (1987-1988)

Timelevels was released in cassette format by EYE TAPES in 1987. In this album Hillman is playing various synths and electric guitar. Its a compilation of two albums that where released in cassette format. His wife Linda is also playing the flute. WORLDS BEYOND (tracks 5-9) was the first album where Steve finally added some digital synth to compliment the analogue sounds he’d been using for several years. A great berlin-school album, essential to fans of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze.

Tangerine Dream - Firestarter (1984)

Firestarter is a 1984 American science fiction thriller film based on Stephen King's 1980 novel of the same name.[3] The plot concerns a young girl who develops pyrokinesis and the secret government agency which seeks to control her. The film was directed by Mark L. Lester, and stars David Keith, Drew Barrymore, Martin Sheen and George C. Scott.
Tangerine Dream wrote the soundtrack for this film and the line-up of the band was:
Edgar Froese– keyboards, electronic equipment, guitar
Christopher Franke– synthesizers, electronic equipment, electronic percussion
Johannes Schmoelling– keyboards, electronic equipment
One of my favourite Tangerine Dream soundtracks (also the movie is awesome) - R.I.P. Edgar Froese

Tangerine Dream - Tangerine Tree vol.17 (31-1-1980)

"This is a message to you we are very sorry for," the band wrote on its Facebook page. "On January 20th, Tuesday afternoon, Edgar Froese suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from the effects of a pulmonary embolism in Vienna. The sadness in our hearts is immensely [sic]. Edgar once said: 'There is no death, there is just a change of our cosmic address.' Edgar, this is a little comfort to us."
Froese founded Tangerine Dream in 1967 Berlin and was the group's most consistent member through a number of lineup changes over the decades.
The band's early albums were an essential part of Germany's burgeoning "Krautrock" genre in the late '60s and early '70s, whcih included Kraftwerk, Neu! and fellow soundtrack-crafters Popul Vuh. Unlike the extremely propulsive music of some of their peers, Tangerine Dream's electronic music was less about mimicking the rhythms of urban landscapes and more about evoking cosmic, space-y landscapes. Their discography is huge and cannot be described in a small paragraph.
Tangerine Dream has released more than one hundred albums since the group was formed. Their early "Pink Years" albums had a pivotal role in the development of krautrock. Their "Virgin Years" albums helped define what became known as the Berlin School of electronic music. These and later albums were influential in the development of electronic dance music, and also the genre known as new-age music, though the band themselves disliked the term. From the late 1990s into the 2000s, Tangerine Dream has also explored some styles of electronica.
Tangerine Tree was a project from 2002 through 2006 that was dedicated to the collection, preservation and distribution of unreleased concerts and other audio material by the band Tangerine Dream. The creators of the Tangerine Tree project received permission from Tangerine Dream to release the collection on a strict non-profit basis. Several of the Tangerine Tree volumes have been used as the basis for official Tangerine Dream releases. The project collected just under 300 hours of material (291:39:26).
This is a concert of Tangerine Dream that took part in East Berlin, in 1980.

Gianni Safred & His Electronic Instruments - Futuribile, The Life To Come (1978)

" What did the future sound like in 1980? Futurible (meaning "futuristic" in Italian) is brought to you by Italian composer Gianni Safred and will take you both back in time and into the future. Safred uses Moog and Arp synthesizers that have now become commonplace in popular music.
These sounds are "suitable for space travels, space explorers, experiments, fantastic adventures, future enterprises, interplanetary stories, important achievements, industrial accomplishments of broad implication… modern scientific discoveries, new industrial events..." and also a Sunday afternoon on your living room couch." For you!

Jean-Philippe Goude - Drones (1980)

Jean-Philippe Goude is a French keyboardist and composer, born in Paris in 1952. In the seventies was interested in the minimalist musicians Terry Riley and Philip Glass. He soon made a band called "MADAME BERTRAND". Olivier Cole and Jean-Philippe himself on keyboards, helped out by electronics wizard Francois Gingle released one album, called "JEUNES ANNEES" in 1975, a record for which Goude had written all compositions. A few months later, Jean-Philippe, strongly recommended by ZAO's drummer Jean-My Truong, joined Bernard Paganotti's band WEIDORJE in which he shared keyboard duties with Patrick Gauthier. A few months later, Jean-Philippe, strongly recommended by ZAO's drummer Jean-My Truong, joined Bernard Paganotti's band WEIDORJE in which he shared keyboard duties with Patrick Gauthier. After the band's break up, he followed a solo carear and in 1979 recorded the album "Drones".

Eric Vann - Space Face (1981)

Pseudonym used by Joel Vandroogenbroeck (born 25 August 1938 in Brussels, Belgium) the multi-instrumentalist best-known as leader of the Swiss psychedelic band Brainticket. Quite why Joel used this name for a few library LP releases in the early 1980's is a mystery, except to quote Joel himself "These were records I made that were not in my usual recognisable style".

Patrick Vian - Bruits Et Temps Analogues (1976)

Patrick Vian, a son of Boris Vian (a French poet / writer / jazz musician), was born on Apr. 12, 1942 in Angoulême, France. Obviously influenced by his father Boris, he had been much interested in music and joined various rock projects including RED NOISE as a guitarist in his student days. After Red Noise disbanded, he composed and offered some of the music for the film named Hu-Man (produced by Jérôme Laperrousaz) in 1975. And finally in the following year, as a synthesizer player, Patrick recorded his solo work "Bruits Et Temps Analogues" (1976), produced by Jérôme Laperrousaz and released via Egg label, owned by Barclay Records (lots of promising musicians like Vangelis or Tim Blake were under contract with this company).
In this album, Patrick Vian plays a Moog modular and an Arp 2600 synthesizer.

Michael Garrison - In The Regions Of Sunreturn (1979)

Michael Garrison was a synthesist from Oregon, USA.
He was born on November 28, 1956 in Roseburg, Oregon and died on March 24, 2004 in Bend, Oregon.
At the age of 13 he wrote his first song and later, during his musical study at the Idaho University, he formed the basic for the first release on his own label Windspell Records, later known as Windspell Music.
The original work of his 1st album was titled "In The Regions Of Sunreturn and Beyond" and based on the expeditions of Voyager 1 and 2. But when he managed to get a contract with BMG in 1980 the title changed to "In The Regions Of Sunreturn" and so he became also known in Europe.
His style was typical strong sequences with monstrous solos played with various electronic instruments on top. Often a real wall-of-sound experience. He was strongly influenced by the European innovators of Electronic Music, like Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre.

Syndromeda - Connected! (2014)

Syndromeda (anagram of "The synthesizer syndrome of Andromeda ) is the Belgian composer Danny Budts.
Danny was born in 1958 at Wilrijk - Belgium. Always interested in music he learned to play himself acoustic guitar at the age of 14. At the age of 18 he was playing the lead-guitar in a local rock-coverband, called " Cold Turkey " .
In the mid-seventies he also discovered electronic music. His first acquaintance was " Ricochet " of Tangerine Dream. He soon learned to know the music of Klaus Schulze, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, and many other.
In 1979 he built himself a modulair synth, a Formant, and also bought a simple monophonic preset-synth a Roland SH-2000.
Now he has a huge studio full of wonderful vintage and modern synthesizers, and a big eurorack modular system. His newest album (released on Syngate) is "Connected!". It was mostly written with the eurorack modular system and has a classic berlin-school influence with lots of experimentation.
Syndromeda thank you for this wonderful music, you are one of my favourite artists of our times!
